Like the history of the country, Filipino food is reflective of the foreign and local influences that have shaped the country; a mixture of the eastern and western cuisines.  Filipino food is the integration of the early Malay settlers, the Chinese traders and the Spanish and American colonizers - but "indigenized or Filipinized" by the local ingredients and taste buds.

KAINAN, the word meaning  "a small eatery", has served the local Cleveland community for 10 years.  Under new management,
New KAINAN aims to continue the legacy of the institution, but aspires to incorporate a healthier approach to Filipino food preparation.
